Alfred R. Harris, 88, of N. Dry Run Road, Veedersburg, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 1996 at Woodland Manor Nursing Home, Attica. He was born In Newtown on Dec. 26, 1907, a son of William F. and Ethel (Rice) Harris. His marriage was to Onda Mae Duncan in Veedersburg on Nov. 10, 1935. She survives. Also surviving, are: two daughters, Mrs. Gail (Martha) Krise and Mrs. Morris (Joan) Rogers, both of Veedersburg; a foster son, David Ronk of Greenwich, Ohio; one sister, LaVera Rice of Veedersburg; six great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. Mr. Harris was a member and former trustee of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and worked for the Indiana State Highway Dept. and formerly worked for the West Central Indiana Co Op. Visitation was Tuesday at Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown. Service there on Wednesday with Rev. Tony King and Rev. Doug McCord officiating. Interment at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown. Memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Home of Valparaiso or Hopewell Baptist Church of Newtown. – jlr

Veedersburg - Alfred R. Harris, 88 of Veedersburg died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday in Woodland Manor Nursing Home at Attica.  Mr. Harris was a retired farmer and former worker for the Indiana State Highway Department. He had also worked for the West Central Indiana Coop.  His memberships included the Hopewell Baptist Church where he was a former trustee. He was born Dec 26, 1907 at Newtown to William F. and Ethel Rice Harris. He married Onda Mae Duncan Harris Nov 30, 1935 at Veedersburg. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters Mrs. Martha Krise and Mrs. Joan Rogers, both of Veedersburg; a foster son, David Ronk of Greenwich, Ohio; a sister, LaVera Rice of Veedersburg; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Revs. Tony King and Doug McCord officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home of Valparaiso or the Hopewell Baptist Church of Newtown.
